It is always my preference to work with a client face to face, taking measurements, fitting the muslin, then the final fittings - making sure everything is right. My sister-in-law wanted me to make her a dress. Granted she does not live half way across the world, but she is 1450 miles away from me and my sewing machine. Fortunately, I was able to take her measurements when she was visiting with our family. Although she wasn't sure what style of dress she wanted, she was adamant about being able to have a dress that fit the way she wanted. I sketched some ideas for her, she selected one and we were off. After constructing the muslin, I mailed it to her so she could check that the fit and style was just as she wanted. When that was done I made the dress from a beautiful blue rayon with light grey diamond shapes, lined with a coordinating light grey ambiance lining. She was pretty excited about how well the dress turned out and loved all the compliments she received while wearing it. So excited that she wanted another dress same style. This time it was made out of a wonderful lightweight linen, lined with a silky coordinating fabric with small polka dots. Fun to slip into. The lining will help with wrinkling. Making her happy with her dress made me happy! Love to see the smiles.
